HUTCHISON AJMAN INTERNATIONAL TERMINALS AND AJMAN PORT & CUSTOMS DEPARTMENT JOINTLY LAUNCH A NEW TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED WAREHOUSE

Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council of UAE and Ruler of Ajman, Hutchison Ajman International Terminals (HAJT) and Ajman Port & Customs Department (APCD) celebrated the opening of a new Temperature Controlled Warehouse (TCW) inside Ajman Port on March 23rd, 2015. His Highness was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, H.H. Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Tourism Development Department, H.H. Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, Directors and senior officials of Ajman Government Departments and other distinguished guests in the ceremony. The 7,200 square metre TCW was constructed in response to the increasing demand for temperature controlled storage facilities at the port. The purpose-built warehouse facility can accommodate more than 12,000 pallets at temperatures from 15 degrees Celsius. With this new facility, Ajman Port can better serve customers for storing different kinds of temperature-sensitive cargo all year-round. The warehouse is designed with environmentally-friendly features such as skylights and energy saving LEDs. Equipment inside the warehouse is electric-powered producing zero emissions. Inventory inside the warehouse will be organised with a state-of-the-art warehouse management system that allows users to track their inventory on real-time basis and generate customised reports. The inauguration ceremony was followed by a demonstration of warehouse operations given inside the facility and a terminal visit, which demonstrated the developments and achievements of Ajman Port over the past 3 years under the management of HAJT. His Highness praised the efforts of APCD and HAJT in the implementation and accomplishment of the TCW and the development of the container yard, and the eagerness to provide logistics services to investors. He also praised the role of the project owner and their eagerness to execute in accordance to standards and requirements of the modern era of investment. His Highness said that these projects and achievements are part of a comprehensive development plan of Ajman Port by the government, which is to develop the port’s services with high-tech programmes, and purchase sophisticated and hi-tech cargoes and container-handling equipment as well as marine, navigation, wired and wireless telecommunication equipment. HAJT is committed to providing value-added services at Ajman Port. It will continue to introduce new technology and equipment to improve the efficiency and operations of the port. END
